Botox, Dysport
Botox and Dysport are medical preparations on the basis of botulinic toxin, that are injected into mimic muscles and temporarily dehydrate them. Due to that, skin becomes smoother and wrinkles are leveled. Botox and Dysport are manufactured by different companies and are obtained with various ways of synthesis. However, they are similar by effect on mimic muscles. Both preparations are administered by injections.
Injectable botulinum toxin type A (Botox®, Dysport) is currently the most effective method for combating age-related changes in facial skin, particularly wrinkles. Wrinkle injections are an excellent opportunity to prolong youth without resorting to surgical intervention.

Indications for Botox Injections
Аging is a natural process characterized by the appearance of both fine and deep wrinkles, folds, changes in skin color, and deformation of the face oval, among other factors. This process is exacerbated by various factors such as hyperactivity of facial muscles, decreased skin elasticity and turgor, atrophy of subcutaneous fat cells, and resorption of cartilaginous and bony structures.
Beauty injections can help address such issues:
- horizontal wrinkles on the forehead and between the eyebrows
- "crow's feet" - wrinkles around the eyes
- drooping eyebrows
- excessive sweating - hyperhidrosis
Botox and Dysport are very versatile products that can not only smooth wrinkles, but also shape facial expressions. For example, raise eyebrow tips, create the effect of wider-set eyes, lift the corners of the mouth or the tip of the nose.
The products are used in very small doses, so they do not cause addiction.
Procedure of Botulinum therapy
- Botox injections are a fairly simple technique in the skilled hands of a physician, taking only 15-20 minutes
- The procedure is performed in sterile conditions
- The patient is in a comfortable sitting position
- Prior to injections, the skin is disinfected
- Then, the doctor marks the points where the product will be injected. To properly mark the points, the patient must engage their facial muscles (frown, smile, etc).
- The product can be injected into the forehead, between the eyebrows, around the eyes, lower third of the neck, décolletage. Botox is also injected into the armpits, soles, and palms to correct hyperhidrosis. Recently, Botox has been frequently used for facial oval and eyebrow shape correction.
- Botox and Dysport injections are administered with a sterile thin insulin needle intramuscularly at the marked points. A specific dosage, calculated by the doctor based on the muscle's mimetic activity and the patient's wishes, is injected. The amount of product is measured in units of action.
Recommendations after beauty injections
After the correction procedure, there are certain rules that the patient must follow. This is necessary to prolong the effect and avoid side effects:
- Mimetic activity for 1 hour after the procedure (frowning, smiling, and raising eyebrows). This is necessary to ensure that the product goes into the muscle that contracts more actively.
- Avoid overheating the body (sauna, tanning bed) for 7 days after the injections. Botulinum toxin is not a permanent substance, and until it completely blocks the chemical reaction at the muscle fiber level, overheating should be avoided.
- Do not take antibiotics for 14 days to avoid reducing the effectiveness of the product.
Duration of Effect
The effect of beauty injections does not occur immediately, but on the 2nd to 5th day. Gradually, the patient notices that it is difficult to frown, difficult to be surprised, and wrinkles do not form when smiling. The full effect of the product is revealed within 2 weeks, and correction is possible at that time.
On average, the effect of Botox and Dysport injections lasts 4–6 months, after which facial wrinkles (crow's feet, wrinkles on the forehead and between the eyebrows) return to their original state. Therefore, to achieve the desired effect, injections need to be repeated. The price of Botox and Dysport injections is quite reasonable, and repeat injections often provide a longer-lasting effect than the first ones.
